Solgar Omega 3-6-9 is a high quality blend of omega 3, 6 and 9. Fatty acids that are obtained from Fish, flaxseed and borage oils. These essential fats are necessary for different physiological functions and must be part of our diet because the body cannot synthesize them on its own.
Omega 3 consists of EPA (eicosapentanoic acid) and DHA (docosahexanoic acid). They are usually found in blue FISH such as sardines, mackerel and salmon. It also includes ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) that fish naturally convert into EPA and DHA, but our body can only convert small amounts.
Omega 6 consists of linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid, and are found in different oils and nuts.
Omega 9 is found naturally in foods that contain oleic acid, such as nuts and olive oil.
The ratio of these fatty acids is very important, especially between omega 3s and omega 6s. Solgar Omega 3-6-9, with its dose of 3 capsules a day, provides a higher proportion of omega-3 oils, from fish and flaxseed, which are complemented by the high-quality omega-6 from borage and linseed oils, in addition to omega-9 in the form of oleic acid, which is also obtained from linseed oil.
Fish oils can contain different contaminants since they are often present in the food consumed by fish. Pollutants are usually found in the lower part of the aquatic food chain, in marine organisms of freshwater sediments and marine waters. To ensure purity and safety, Solgar Omega 3-6-9 uses a molecularly distilled oil to remove mercury, PCBs, and other contaminating heavy metals.
